Travel Tips for Enjoying the Area Around Mosley Motel
Mosley Motel is conveniently located near Miller Beach, and we’re right in the middle of a number of fantastic destinations. If you’re considering a trip to Northwest Indiana, or simply passing through, stay with us a few days and enjoy the sights and sounds of Gary and the surrounding areas. To get you in the spirit of travel, we’ve listed some travel tips to help in your planning!
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore
The most obvious thing you may notice about Northwest Indiana is its proximity to Lake Michigan! In our little corner, we’re close to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, which runs along the southern tip of the lake and up toward Michigan. If you’re a fan of wildlife, hiking, and would like to learn a thing or two about Indiana’s natural history, this is the place for you!
Miller Beach Arts
and Creative District
The neighborhood of Miller Beach has experienced a renaissance of late, and we’re right in the thick of it. Their Arts and Creative District runs nicely into plenty of artisan shops on Lake Street, so you can enjoy some culture and shopping all in the same spot. Lake Street also features a number of events throughout the year, including their annual festival as well as street parties and other community events! Additionally, the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts is always hosting traveling artists, acts, musicians, and more. Most events are either free or have a minimal cost and all are open to the public.
Lake Michigan Beaches
You can't have a list of travel tips that doesn't include the beach! If you love soaking up the sun and watching the waves roll, you’re in a prime location when you stay with us! We’re not quite 2 miles from Lake Street Beach where you can relax in the sun, swim in Lake Michigan’s waters, and build castles in the warm sands. West Beach and Porter Beach are also not too far up the shoreline!
Gary Air Show
This thrilling aerial show takes place at Marquette Park, just north of our hotel. Book in advance to stay the weekend and take part in all the festivities surrounding the Gary Air Show. The show is typically spread out across 2 days and features some stunning aerial acrobatics over Lake Michigan’s waters.
Shopping, Exploring, and More
Our hotel is smack dab between two highways, so you’re never too far away from historic downtowns, shopping centers, or tasteful dining experiences. In fact, we're close enough to walk to the South Shore train station as well! Chicago is but an hour away, but to explore more of Indiana, Michigan City’s Lighthouse Outlet Mall is a little way up the road, while Chesterton’s quaint downtown is even closer. Portage, Valparaiso, as well as Hobart are all within a short driving distance, leaving plenty to be explored from your hub at Mosley Motel!
